Goals in either half from Edgar Benitez and Ariel Bogado saw Paraguay beat Guatemala 2-1 in a friendly in Luque, on the outskirts of Asuncion.
The hosts dominated the early stages and came close through Santiago Salcedo and Benitez before the two combined to open the scoring in the 33rd minute.
Jorge Mendoza also saw a shot saved by Ricardo Jerez as Paraguay pushed for more goals before the end of the half.
Guatemala offered little coming forward and they were grateful to goalkeeper Jerez as well as the woodwork - which was struck three times by Benitez.
Ariel Bogado made the game safe on 71 minutes when he stepped up to convert from the penalty spot after a foul on Reinaldo Ocampo.
The visitors did manage to pull a goal back through Carlos Ruiz but they couldn't rescue an unlikely draw in the final 10 minutes.
Paraguay are in action again when they visit Bolivia on June 9 and Argentina on September 7.
