Sao Paulo centre-back Bruno Uvini has agreed to an extended trial period with English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur.
The 20 year-old, who captained his country to the U20 World Cup in Colombia last year, is expected to arrive in London this week for what will initially be a trial.
Reports in the Brazilian media suggest a deal has already been agreed in principle and the youngster will complete his move to the Premier League club at the end of the season when the transfer window reopens.
“It's a great opportunity that came and one I could not pass up. We have been talking to Tottenham for some time,” the Sao Paulo defender told Globo.
“It will take a little more than three months for me to adapt to English football, the club, and culture.”
Bruno Uvini is expected to feature prominently in Tottenham’s reserve team and the English club are intend to make the deal permanent after a settling in period. The youngster had been heavily linked with a move to Italy in the transfer window, with Genoa reported to have made their interest known.
The player’s club, Sao Paulo, where Uvini had at least four players ahead of him in the pecking order, own just half of the player’s registration however, and while Spurs have been granted first refusal they will have to agree a fee both with the Brazilian club and a third party owner.
