Sao Paulo have joined the race to sign midfielder Thiago Neves from Al Hilal - but have had an offer rejected by the Saudi Arabian club.
Lancenet reports that Al Hilal, who own half of Neves' rights, are waiting for an offer of around €7 million before they will allow the player to negotiate.
The Saudi club have already confirmed that Fluminense have shown an interest in Neves and so too have Flamengo, for whom the 26-year-old played for on loan last season.
However, Sao Paulo have now shown their interest in signing Neves after hitting stumbling blocks with potential moves for both Walter Montillo of Cruzeiro and Jadson of Shakhtar Donetsk.
It is thought the Morumbi club are the only one of the three interests to table a formal bid for Neves at the moment but the player would prefer to stay at Flamengo.
Negotiations between Flamengo and Al Hilal have not proved successful so far. Neves has spent time at both Flamengo and Fluminense in his much-travelled career.
