David Trezeguet is on the verge of joining River Plate after meeting with club president Daniel Passarella on Friday.
The former Juventus striker is set to undergo a medical with the Argentinian club on Saturday and will sign a contract next week if everything goes well.
After leaving Hercules in the summer, Trezeguet joined Baniyas in the United Arab Emirates but negotiated his release from the club.
He is now set to join his boyhood idols River and said he is excited about the move.
"I’m in perfect shape to give River my best," he commented. "To play for this club and in Argentine football is to crown a dream. I left (Buenos Aires) very young and I’m really enthusiastic about this (move)."
Trezeguet also revealed that he has spoken with River coach Matias Almeyda, adding: “I’ve talked with Matias and we had a very good dialogue. He explained the team’s situation to me. The club’s objective is very clear, and his too."
